Author Biography

Nigel Rothfels

Nigel Rothfels is author of Savages and Beasts: The Birth of the Modern Zoo (2002), the editor of the collection Representing Animals (2002), and co-author, with Dick Blau, of Elephant House (2015). His new book, Elephant Trails: A History of Animals and Cultures, will be published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2021. He is also General Editor of Animalibus: Of Animals and Cultures with Penn State University Press, which started in 2012 and has 19 volumes in print.
